DOGS ALLOWED: Yes, on a leash

Join Ambassador Troy on this moderately challenging hike! This event will be a 2.8 mile out and back 2 hour experience. The beautifully shaded trail leads to the Devil's Head Lookout which is 143 steps up a mountain. The lookout was built in 1912, and was refurbished in 1951, by the US Forest Service as a look out for wildfires.

Today it brings stunning 360 views for anyone who can get to the top! Dogs are allowed on the trail, but not up to the lookout. There are also first come first serve campsites, for anyone who would like to make a trip out of it.

There are only about 20 parking spots at the trailhead, so sign up and let me know if you'd be willing to carpool, and I'll coordinate it.

HOST: Benjamin Nicholas | Arizona Ambassador

ACTIVITY: Hiking

LOCATION: Sedona, AZ

SUGGESTED LGBT OUTDOORS DONATION: $10

ACTIVITY FEE(S): $5, Day pass per Vehicle

MINORS ALLOWED: Yes, over 13 years

DOGS ALLOWED: No

Join Ambassador Benjamin for a lovely spring hike on this moderately challenging trail! The Hangover Loop is 7.9 miles with 1250' of climbing. Caveat: while AllTrails rates this trail as moderately challenging physically, it's considered more difficult mentally especially if you're afraid of heights. There are parts of the trail that are steep with sheer drop offs, and it's very important to know your limits. However, those who don't want to do the exposed part of the trail are welcome to join us for the canyon portion of the trail and then turn around.

The trail features forested canyons, creek crossings, stunning views of the red rocks, and some rocky scrambles. We'll meander up the historic Munds Wagon Trail through Damfino Canyon, cross the "Cow Pies" rock formation, and then climb over the ridge (this is where the trail gets exposed) to descend back down into Damfino Canyon.

Not suitable for dogs or kiddos under 13.

We will meet at the Schnebly Hill trailhead. Day passes are $5 per car. Parking is limited so definitely consider carpooling!

Come join us for spectacular views, incredible people, and one of the most enjoyable mountain hikes in the Adirondacks: Mount Van Hoevenberg! This mountain is also part of the Lake Placid 9 Challenge, for those working towards their patch!

MT VAN HOEVENBERG: THE FACTS:

Distance: 3.6 miles round trip
Elevation: 2,860 feet
Elevation gain: 1,000 feet

Hikers begin a gentle climb to one of the finest views of the High Peaks after signing in. Switchbacks are used throughout the trail so that the climb is never very steep as it meanders through the woods. Thanks to sustainable design, hard work, and trail maintenance, it's easy to spend time concentrating on the journey and not worrying about tripping over roots. In the spring, you'll see tons of bright wildflowers. The hardened trail is easy on the knees, with the grade never exceeding 12%.

Start Pride Month off right by joining us on a hike through the scenic and historic Asylum Lake Preserve! You will walk through beautiful lakeside scenery and learn about the history of this preserve on this hike (which should take about 2 hours) trekking down various trails in this park.

The trails here vary from flat pavement by the prairies to small dirt trails, so come prepared. There are some elevation changes here, but nothing too drastic, so this will be a relatively laid-back hike.

This is also a great place to start if you're interested in learning about geocaching! There are currently 9 geocaches scattered throughout the preserve and we will be walking past some of them on our hike.

Parking may be an issue, I encourage prospective hikers to carpool if possible as spaces fill up fast here. There are some additional parking spots across the road if needed.

Registration has reopened!

This event has been rescheduled for May 4th. If you already registered, you are still registered. If you cannot make it, please contact the ambassador.

Join us for a repeat of a popular hike we last did 2 years ago. This loop is a 6 mile hike with approximately 1200 feet of gain. The first 2.5 miles to Lonesome Lake will feature a steady incline up the Cascade Brook trail, with 2 water crossings that will require good balance hopping between stepping stones. There will be multiple waterfalls along the trail as we make our way up.

In late April there is typically still some snow and ice once we get about 800 feet up, so microspikes or other traction gear will be necessary.

We will stop at the Lonesome Lake hut for break and snacks, then it's an easy flat half mile on boardwalks across the marshland on the west side of the lake. There will be gorgeous views of the Cannon Balls and Franconia Ridge most of the time we are at the lake.

There will be a 1 mile steep decent coming down from the lake bringing us to the Franconia Notch bike path, which we will take for a mostly flat 2 miles on a paved path back to the trailhead.

This is a fun 3.6 mile moderate loop trail over some hills and bridges. This is one of my favorite places to go! It has easy parking and is dog friendly.

It can be a little muddy in places so a good pair of boots are recommended. The scenery here is very nice. Great opportunity to add a few miles to the 100 Mile Club on Strava!
