At LGBT+ Outdoors, our mission has always been to create a welcoming space for everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community to connect, thrive, and explore the great outdoors. To further that commitment, we’re making an important change: we are becoming LGBTQ Outdoors.

This change reflects our desire to ensure every member of our community feels completely included from the very first moment they encounter our name. In particular, the inclusion of “Q” in our name honors those who identify as queer— Queer identify is an umbrella term for folks whose sexual orientation, gender identity or expression is not cisgender or heterosexual. Upending the societal norms that gender/sexuality are binary.

The plus sign will remain in our logo, serving as a powerful symbol that all LGBTQQIP2SAA individuals are welcome here. It’s a reminder that our community is beautifully diverse and that everyone has a place in our shared journey.

We recognize that this transition will take time as we update all materials, resources, and platforms. We ask for your patience as we make these changes. In the meantime, we’re excited to share that we’ve already updated our logo and launched LGBTQOutdoors.com; however, LGBTOutdoors.com will work throughout the transition as well.
